Our purpose
The Pleasanton Heritage Association is dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of Pleasanton's heritage buildings and neighborhoods in order to protect the historic character of the city and the quality of life of its residents.

PHA is run by neighbors. Membership pays for the bronze plaques, the research behind them, and the ceremonies where they are handed over — and it puts one more name behind us when a heritage building comes up for review.
About us
A community-based organization
The Pleasanton Heritage Association has no staff and no building of its own. It is residents — people who live on these streets, in some cases in the houses themselves — who show up to council meetings, walk the neighborhoods, dig through county records and hand out bronze plaques once a year.
What that adds up to is a memory the city can consult. When a heritage building comes up for demolition or a remodel goes before review, someone needs to already know what it is, when it was built, and who built it. That is the work.
PHA is a 501(c)(3) public charity. Everything it does is paid for by memberships and donations, and done by volunteers.

Our mission
Seven things we set out to do
These are the association’s founding commitments, in its own words.
Identify
Identify opportunities for preservation and enhancement of Pleasanton's heritage buildings, landmarks and natural resources (trees, parks, landscapes).
Advise
Provide input to property owners, city officials, builders and the public about issues impacting the preservation of Pleasanton's historic character and resources and the quality of life of its residents.
Encourage
Encourage new construction projects and appropriate remodels that embrace high quality, historically-themed architecture, thus expanding Pleasanton's core of heritage buildings and neighborhoods.
Inventory
Work with the City of Pleasanton to create and maintain an inventory of significant heritage buildings and neighborhood features.
Inform
Serve as a resource for information about preserving, remodeling and restoring heritage buildings.
Review
Review proposals for the demolition of heritage buildings, landmarks and natural resources (trees, parks, landscapes).
Circulation
Work with the City of Pleasanton to ease traffic circulation problems within heritage neighborhoods.
